Molise · Matese · Tradition
Among the watermills of the Rio and the alleys of Sant'Angelo in Grotte, a story of history, land and traditions to explore slowly — one step at a time.
Santa Maria del Molise lives between two worlds: the mountain, where its oldest roots lie, and the valley, where the village grew over time. Two different yet deeply connected realities, bound by a shared history of water, stone and spirituality.
The area has its roots in the ancient core of Sant'Angelo in Grotte, the original settlement and historic heart of the community. After the 1805 earthquake, the town gradually developed further down the valley, taking the shape of today's Santa Maria del Molise. A journey through time that still lives on in a balance of memory, landscape and identity.
